Don't tell me there's a team we can beat out there. That's 2 in a row over Toronto. I guess they're worse than us. Travis Fryman hit a three run home run today and thats all we needed, winning 3-0. I thought sure he'd have hit into a double play but he is capable of hitting the ball out. Wish he'd do that a little more. And, Branyan struck out twice again today. How long are they going to keep him in there? Once again, plenty left on base. 9 today. Another hit here or there and we could have coasted.

What a surprise, we beat Toronto 5-2. And I think Charlie Manuel ought to leave the line up like it is with Lawton leading off, Vizquel hitting third and Burks hitting fourth. Don't think we'll win very many games but we'll drive in a few more runs. I don't understand Cabrerra hitting second though. He can't be hitting even .100. We left 12 runners on base and Branyan struck out twice to keep his strikeout ratio at 40%. And of course Guttierrez went 0 for 5. I'm so glad we have him at second rather than Robby Alomar.
One good thing about an off day. At least you can't lose. I read the Plain Dealer this morning and they're talking about this season being in the tank. We're roughly a quarter of the way through. True Indians fans, like me, wrote it off at the start of the season. Even when we were 11-1. Since then we've gone 9-25, getting swept by last place teams. And, the Plain Dealer offered some thought provoking "what if we traded". Trouble is there's nobody to trade. Sure, I still back Omar and Ellis Burks and always will, but you have to keep them. The article said Thome is going to want a 5 or 6 year contract worth 15 million a year. Good luck and good bye mr strikeout. Now if we can quietly unload mr automatic strikeout Russ Branyan. Strangely, he didn't make the list nor did the double play boys, Fryman and Gutterriez or however you spell his name. Toronto is the next team to keep us sliding toward last place then the Tigers are here for 4 games and that should put us in last place for good this year.

We got swept by the Tigers losing 2-0. It took 7 and 2/3rds innings before we got a hit tonight. I thought it would be a no hitter. I listened to some of this crap on the radio. Russ Branyan struck out 3 times tonight and is now striking out once every 2.5 times at the plate. And he's a regular player. The Indians have hit into 56 double plays this year. I see Texas demoted John Rocker to the minors today. He has an astronomical ERA and only 1 save. Anybody care to guess who that save was against?

Charles Nagy means automatic loss. We lost another one to the Tigers 5-1. Now the season is turning bleak. I can't wait to see what New York and Boston do to us. I'm just glad we're not in their division playing them 19 times each cause that would mean 38 losses to 2 teams. We had plenty going for us tonight leaving 11 runners stranded on base. The trouble is we have Gutterriez, Fryman and Branyan situated in the line up at just the right places to kill any potential rallies. I heard we released Brady Anderson today. He was supposed to be one of the guys that would lead us to the World Series. I don't think he even hit .180.

Why should other teams beat us when we're so good at beating ourselves? We had 10 hits tonight and hit into 4 double plays. Not only can't we beat Kansas City but now we can't even beat Detroit. Once again a team comes from behind and beats us 4-3. Where was our offense late in the game? Hitting into double plays. Listening to the commentators is a real joke. They get paid by the Indians so they have to keep the hopes up. But the fact is we suck.

I guess we can always find more ways to lose. Too bad we can't figure out how to win more often. I still got faith in Wickman though. He may have lost the game and blown a save but he didn't commit the error. With every loss I see more and more people giving up their season tickets next year. Tom, the ex pinball wizard said we should be happy for the last 8 years or so and although I don't disagree, I can't see how we hit hard times again so fast. Unfortunately this stretch should take us past my lifetime. Tribe loses 5-4. This week it was KC 5-Cle 4, Cle 4-KC 1, KC 4-Cle 2, KC 6-Cle 2, Cle 3-Bal 1, Cle 6-Bal 5. We were outscored 22-21. Happy Birthday Lucy.
