We lost again last night to the Royals 9-0. And Kansas City is a real crap team so where does that leave us. Thursday was the same old story and I'm afraid last night is going to be the same new story. The shut out. We may just set a league record for being whitewashed this year. Now we get all this talk about getting rid of quality players to free up money for Jim Thome. You got to be kidding me. Thome's in his 30's now. He isn't going to get any better. How anyone could give up on Manny Ramirez or Juan Gonzalez to keep Jim Thome has got to be out of his mind. The bad thing about all this is we might be starting a new generation of Indian fans that have good reason to think like me.

We lost to Kansas City 5-3. Same old story of being ahead and then not hitting late when KC evened the score and then went ahead. Teams like KC are the ones we have to beat to be in contention so this tells me what I want to know about where we'll end up this year. I read the Plain Dealer this morning and shuddered at the article about Russ Branyan being our future. If thats the case, the bleak days of the 80's are back upon us. And I'd like to know who's responsible for it. From 1994 till now we've had a team at or near the top and all of a sudden we're mediocre and going down.

We won tonight 6-2 and took the series at Baltimore. I should be happy but I'm not. I listened to the last 5 innings on the radio and we just don't have it. They mowed us down without much difficulty except for Branyan's home run which was the only hit we got after the 3rd inning. Unless you count hit batters. 4 of our guys got hit tonight. Baltimore comes to Cleveland next week so we'll see if things get evened up. One of the radio announcers said something tonight that I've said all along. Cleveland is always near the top when it comes to hits and runners left on base. But this year we can't afford to let the opportunities go by because we won't have as many.
The winning streak is over. Balt beat us in 10 innings 4-3. We had a 3-1 lead but couldn't hold it. I don't know any particulars of the game. Once again Columbo got in the way. This was an old one Jerry that I never saw before. Jack Cassidy played a magician in this one.

3 in a row now as we cooled off the Baltimore Orioles 9-4. Omar was on base a bunch of times again and Lawton and Thome hit home runs. But I'm by no means fooled by this. We still have a line up full of rally killers like strike out Branyan and double play Fryman. Both are hitting right around .200 and playing every day. I read an interesting statistic today. Tony Gwinn struck out 434 times in his career while Thome struck out 527 times in the last 3 years. This is one of the main reasons we can't go all the way. If he'd put half those balls in play he'd probably have 150 more rbi's.

Now it's a 2 game winning streak as we took 2 out of 3 from Texas. Our offense came around and we won this one 9-2. But every team has these games so I'm not reading anything in to this. I didn't watch much of the game, just the first few innings before I had to go to work. We hit the ball hard, thats for sure. 2 flyballs were misplayed and that could have made the difference. Texas looked worse than us on defense lately and I still wonder how that was possible. Let's see where this win streak takes us. I say it doesn't last. This week looked like this, Cle 9-Tex 2, Cle 3-Tex 0, Tex 4-Cle 2, Ana 8-Cle 0, Ana 7-Cle 2, Ana 21-Cle 2 (that still hurts). We were outscored 42-18. Congrats to Tom aka pinball wizard, Robb and Jason on their promotions.
