Well, a one game winning streak. We beat Texas this afternoon 3-0 behind Bartolo Colon. I know very few of the particulars because I've already given up on the horsecrap Tribe this year. Ellis Burks hit a home run today and he's one of the two names I mentioned in a previous blog that can actually hit when he needs to. Still 3 runs sucks, it's not anybodys idea of an offense. But I think it's all we have to work with this year. I'll get to look at the Plain Dealer in the morning while knocking back some of my wifes excellent fried potatos and see what kind of batting averages our starters have. Next Thursday or Friday I'm going to the library to find that little Indian guy. That will sure make these blogs more interesting, to look at anyway.

I don't know what to write tonight. We lost 4-2 and this is serious now. We ain't hitting, period. A few late inning chances were blown to at least tie the game. Now I'm not sure that we won't end up in the cellar. There's nothing to keep us out of it. Unless we do something drastic, like spend a little money, we might lose 100 or more games this year. And what's worse, it could be that bad next year too.
Once again a conflict kept me from doing something concerning the Indians. I should have written this last night but I watched Das Boot instead. Hmmmm, must be some dark symbolic meaning there. Story line was the same though, we were sunk 8-0 by Anaheim. Not only sunk but swept. I read the Plain Dealer this morning and since Cleveland ain't hitting everybody is deciding to take a swing at them. It's so bad here now that we're writing columns on rookies stepping in and leading the team. That works in the movies not at the ballpark. The writers are also getting around to asking the same questions I been wondering about in these blogs. But I'll state it here, we don't have enough players that can hit under pressure. We traded or let those guys go. We still have Omar and Ellis but 2 guys in a line up aren't enough. So, it's back to the basement for us. Anaheim outscored us 36-4.

I had a chance to watch the Indians play on tv or watch Columbo. Of course I watched Columbo and no, Jerry I never saw this episode before. It was a newer one with George Hamilton playing a John Walsh character. The Indians were a rerun too getting plastered 7-2 by the Angels. I switched channels during commercials and was surprised at the amount of empty seats in Jacobs Field. I didn't think that would happen till next year but we really suck. And whats with all the errors lately? I had a chance to watch part of our ninth inning and they showed Charlie Manual in the dugout. He sure looks tired and it's only May 1st. I still like him though and it'll be a shame when they finally come up with a lame enough excuse and let him go.

21-2, but I knew this was coming. It's going to be a long season, but we'll be playing about half of it without Charlie Manual. And, it ain't his fault. We had a chance on the pitching side, a small one but thats gone now. I knew we'd never have any offense. It's back to the dark days of the 70's. Next year it'll show in the attendance. This year they still have a lot of season ticket holders, even if the people don't show up. Next year going to be a different story. Back to 1,500 in the stands. They want to vote Minnesota out of the league this year. Wait till next year. Cleveland will be the team to vote out of existance. Then we can look at that empty stadium that the taxpayers paid for. I thought Anaheim was going to break their team record of 24 runs scored.

Now we're playing like I knew we could. 1 or 2 runs a game. And tonight was a laugher. John Rocker was an embarrassment in an Indian uniform. Well, now he's embarrassing people in Indian uniforms. This is how bad it got. A bonehead running play in the 7th left Omar on first base with two out. Up comes you know who. Omar makes it interesting by stealing second only to have the radio announcer say hey, we're in a position to tie it if Thome can get a hit. Hahaha. He already had 2 strikes on him so we were waiting for the inevitable. And you know anything Rocker throws thats even near the backstop Thome is going to flail away at. Breaking ball swinging strike three. Then in the bottom of the eighth the announcers were saying Shapiro wants to make a trade. Yeah, darn right he does. But, who's he going to trade for and what does he have to give? We only got rid of Alomar and Gonzalez. What was he thinking back then? Anyway, it all adds up to the same thing, we lost 2-1. So, this week we went 2 and 5. It was Tex 2-Cle 1, Tex 4-Cle 2, Cle 7-Tex 4, Chi 6-Cle 3, Chi 9-Cle 2, Chi 5-Cle 1, Cle 4-Chi 2.
